Everything you want to know before reaching out.
Book a Free ConsultTherapy is honestly for everyone. The question is never really if you need it — it's whether you're ready, and whether you've found the right person to do it with. If you're asking this question, something brought you here. That's worth paying attention to.
That experience is worth taking seriously — and I'd want to understand it. A mismatch in fit, modality, or cultural attunement can make even well-intentioned therapy feel like it's circling around rather than landing anywhere.
What I can speak to is how I approach the work: the foundation here is that you are the expert on your own life. You decide what we work on, how fast we go, and what actually matters. If something I suggest doesn't feel right, that's not friction — that's information, and I want to hear it.
Safety and worth are not things you prove or earn in my office. They are given freely — because everyone deserves a place to land and process without judgment. My clients show up as they are, without apology.
I'd rather you come to that conclusion yourself after the consultation than take my word for it.
I am a Black woman — and our experience is unique. Understanding it fully, without over-pathologizing it, is something I don't take lightly.
How depression, anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma present in Black women is not always what the Western majority literature describes — and closing that clinical gap is something I take seriously. You won't need to translate your experience before the work begins.
I work with teens (13+) and adults navigating: anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism, perfectionism, ethnic identity, and life transitions.
Readiness isn't a feeling — it's a decision. Most people who would benefit from therapy never feel completely ready. The better question is: are you ready for your life to look different? For your coping strategies to be more than just getting through? If you're tired of sameness — in how you feel, how you respond, what your days look like — that's worth exploring.
No referral needed. You can reach out directly through the contact form on this site and we'll go from there. If you're using insurance, some plans require a referral for specialty mental health services — it's worth a quick call to your insurance company to confirm before our first session, though it typically is not required.
The free 15-minute consultation exists exactly for this question. It gives both of us a chance to assess fit — your comfort, my capacity to support what you're bringing, and whether the approach I use aligns with what you actually need.
Fit matters more than credentials alone. You should feel like you can say the hard thing without bracing for judgment.
The first session is a 90-minute clinical intake — a structured conversation where I learn about you in a focused, meaningful way. We'll review your intake paperwork together and I'll conduct a clinical interview designed to understand your presenting concerns, your goals for therapy, your personal and family history as it relates to what you're experiencing, and the coping strategies you're currently working with (or working around).
Common things we cover: What's bringing you in right now? What does progress actually look like for you? What's the history behind what you're carrying? What's working, and what isn't?
Before our second session, you'll receive a personalized welcome packet from me — an overview of what I observed, our initial treatment direction, and what to expect as we get to work. It's meant to make the process feel clear and collaborative from the start, not mysterious.
You don't need to have the "right" answers. You just need to show up. I'll guide the conversation.
This is entirely dependent on what you bring and what you want to accomplish. Some clients work through a specific concern in 10–16 sessions. Others engage in longer-term work as they go deeper. There is no one-size timeline.
What I can tell you is that the goal is never dependency — it's building the insight, skills, and self-awareness to move through your life with more clarity and less friction. We'll revisit your goals periodically so you always know where you stand and what's ahead.
Yes — with specific, legally defined exceptions. Everything discussed in our sessions is protected by confidentiality. I am legally required to break confidentiality only in situations involving imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else, or in cases involving child or elder abuse.
Outside of those specific circumstances, nothing you share leaves the room — not to family, employers, or anyone else. This is reviewed in full during the intake process so there are no surprises.
No — and also, some of what you're carrying right now is connected to things that happened earlier, whether or not you've thought about them that way. We work at your pace. Nothing is forced.
The approaches I use — CBT, ACT, EMDR, somatic work — are flexible. Some are highly present-focused. We go where the work takes us, and you set the pace for how deep and how fast.
Yes. I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Aetna, and Optum (which includes UMR and UnitedHealthCare plans).
If you have a different plan, I can provide a monthly superbill — an itemized receipt of services — that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans cover a meaningful portion of out-of-network mental health services. A quick call to your insurance company's member services line can tell you your exact benefits before we begin.
Private pay rates are $350 for the initial 90-minute intake session and $235 for standard 53-minute sessions after that.
In accordance with the No Surprises Act, I provide a Good Faith Estimate before we begin so you have a clear picture of expected costs upfront. No unexpected charges.
When you use insurance, a diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record and your insurer has the right to audit your treatment, including session notes. Private pay keeps your care entirely between you and your provider — no diagnosis required to begin, no third-party involvement in your treatment decisions, and no limitations on how long we work together or what we work on. For many clients, that level of privacy and clinical freedom is worth the out-of-pocket investment.
In-person sessions are available at 4100 Spring Valley Rd, Suite 420, Farmers Branch, TX 75244 — just outside Dallas.
Virtual sessions via telehealth are available for residents anywhere in Texas. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of telehealth, particularly for maintaining consistency during travel, busy seasons, or when life makes commuting difficult.
Yes — I work with teens ages 13 and up. My background includes a Licensed School Psychologist credential and over a decade of work with adolescents across clinical and school settings, so this is an area of genuine depth, not a secondary offering.
Parent involvement is discussed during the intake process and structured intentionally — in a way that supports the teen's progress rather than undermining the trust required for the work.
Absolutely. Fill out the contact form and I'll let you know my current availability. If I have space, we can move forward. If timing doesn't align, we'll figure out the best next step together.
